Sinead Mansell is a surface pattern designer based in the UK by the sea in a lovely village along the Morecambe Bay coastline. With spectacular views across the Bay and a stone’s throw from the stunning Lake District it’s a perfect place to have a studio and be inspired by her surroundings.
Sinead was raised into an artistic family, her father is an artist whose work adorns her family home and her mother is a textiles guru so the combination of the two have instilled a creative element in her from a very young age.
Sinead studied for a BA (hons) in Surface Pattern Design at Huddersfield University. Although always being creative it wasn’t until enrolling on The Art & Business of Surface Pattern Design course in 2012 that Sinead decided now was the perfect time to embark on a career in design.
Sinead’s designs tend to have a hand drawn element as it’s important for her to keep her individual style which is quite quirky, fun and organic. All of her work starts out as a hand drawn sketch which is then scanned and manipulated in Photoshop to add the all important colour and this is where Sinead really puts her stamp on it. Sinead’s use of bold colours brings the designs to life.
Sinead produces original bold, bright and colourful designs which lend themselves to all sorts of products and she is interested in art licensing and any suitable collaborations. She has opened an Etsy shop and stocks mugs, coasters, placemats, note books, tea towels and calendars with her unique original art work on. She would love to expand her range of products so watch this space because who knows what's round the corner..........
